PRACTICE ROUND

Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 2026

Practice Round is a simple online tool designed to help music teachers and their pupils keep track of music practice between lessons.

Practice Round is operated by Joe Sweeney, trading as Practice Round. I am responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

If you have any questions about how personal information is used, you can contact me at hello@practiceround.co.uk.

What information does Practice Round use?

Practice Round only uses the information needed to provide the service.

For pupils, this may include:

Pupils do not need to provide an email address, phone number, home address or date of birth.

For teachers, Practice Round uses information such as their name, email address and account information.

Limited technical information, such as IP addresses and service logs, may also be processed when Practice Round is used. This is used to operate and secure the service.

Why is this information used?

Personal information is used to:

Lawful basis

Practice Round uses legitimate interests as its lawful basis for this processing.

The legitimate interest is providing a useful and proportionate way for music teachers and pupils to manage practice between lessons and operating that service safely and securely.

Because Practice Round is used by children, I have considered their interests and privacy particularly carefully. Practice Round uses limited identifying information and does not include advertising, public pupil profiles, communication between pupils, location tracking or behavioural profiling.

I have completed a Legitimate Interests Assessment and Data Protection Impact Assessment for Practice Round.

Who can see pupil information?

A pupil's teacher can see the information associated with that pupil.

Other pupils cannot see it. Teachers using Practice Round are normally only able to access pupils associated with their own teacher account.

As the administrator of Practice Round, I may access pupil information where necessary to provide technical support, investigate a problem or complaint, keep the service secure, or respond to a request about personal information.

Practice Round does not sell pupil information or use it for advertising.

Services used by Practice Round

Practice Round uses a small number of technology providers to operate the service.

Supabase provides database, authentication and backend services. The primary database used by Practice Round is hosted in London.

Netlify hosts the Practice Round website.

These providers may process limited personal or technical information in providing their services. Where information is processed internationally, appropriate data protection arrangements are used.

How long is information kept?

Pupil information is normally kept while the pupil is receiving lessons and using Practice Round.

When a pupil stops lessons, their Practice Round information will normally be permanently deleted within 30 days, unless there is a specific reason it needs to be kept for longer.

This does not affect separate records that may need to be kept for accounting or legal purposes outside Practice Round.

Practice notes

Pupils can optionally write a short note about their practice.

They do not have to write anything. Pupils are encouraged to write only about their music practice and not to include private information about themselves or somebody else.

Your rights

Children have data protection rights over their own information, just as adults do. Depending on the circumstances, these include rights to:

A pupil can ask their teacher for help with any of these things, and a parent or trusted adult can help them.

Because Practice Round relies on legitimate interests, you also have the right to object to the use of your or your child's personal information. If you wish to object, contact me at hello@practiceround.co.uk.

You can contact me about any privacy question or request at hello@practiceround.co.uk.

You also have the right to raise a concern with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.

Children using Practice Round

Practice Round also gives pupils a shorter, child-friendly explanation of privacy within the app itself, including how to ask to see, change or delete their information.
